Welcome to the Gothics
Super value, only 3 groups of skiers!

CMH Guide Claude DuchesneI’m Claude, Area Manager of the Gothics and I love to ski. We are located in the heart of the Columbia Mountains, giving us full access to the deep-snowpack of the Selkirk and Monashee Ranges. Along with James and Kristy we are totally committed to making your ski holiday a trip of a lifetime!

If you like to ski, the Gothics is the place to be! To fully optimize our wide variety of terrain and increase the skiing for our guests Gothics caters to 33 skiers only. With a quicker pace and turn around between runs, guests should be strong and fit skiers. First timers are welcome, as long as you feel confident that you can stay out and ski with us for the majority of the day.

Come share our passion for the mountains this winter

About Gothics Lodge

As one of CMH’s larger areas, Gothic skiers enjoy a rich selection of runs, with excellent tree skiing and spectacular alpine runs and open glaciers. Several microclimates give skiers numerous options no matter the weather, avalanche stability or snow conditions. Our core of experienced guides and pilots strive to make each day as fun and safe as possible.

At the end of a big day of skiing the fun carries over to the lodge where you can socialize with your new ski friends and our amazing staff. A week in the Gothics always makes for a memorable holiday experience; just ask one of our many loyal Gothic Guests, they’ll be happy to tell you!

Gothics Lodge is named after the granite mountains whose steeple-like spires are reminiscent of Gothic cathedrals.

Additional Information About CMH Gothics Lodge

The Gothics are home to the longest named run in CMH tenure, Endless Journey, a 7500-vertical-foot odyssey from the top of a peak at the head of Horne Creek.

The Gothics is also home to the most famous run in CMH tenure, “Run of the Century.” While skiing Century is a feather in the cap of any heli-skier, the guides will tell you there are better runs in the area, like the mind-blowing “Downie Left,” which has a lesser name but a better fall line for much longer. Indeed, the Gothics are all about skiing on stunning features.

The skiing in the Gothics is as diverse as it gets. Roger Atkins, creator of the Snowbase database used by CMH to track snowpack, animal habitat and other mountain issues, says, “The real judge of a heli-ski area is the skiing that’s available in poor conditions.” In this sense, the Gothics is one of the best. When only one elevation or aspect offers good or safe skiing, the options for high pickups are numerous and it is easy for guides to find fun skiing away from the big features that can send avalanches running up the opposite side of the valleys. And when conditions are stable, the options are limitless. The vast ocean of the Ruddock Creek drainage alone could keep an army of heli-skiers busy for days. Undulating alpine terrain drops into friendly glades and ends with the huge tree run of Cougar's Milk. Even today in guide meetings, discussions of new runs are frequent and nearly every year new runs are added to the run list.
