<p>CMH has developed a comprehensive snow and avalanche management system which includes procedures for collecting weather and snow information; evaluating snowpack stability; assessing hazards in the terrain; and determining an appropriate skiing program tailored to on-the-ground conditions.</p> <p><strong>In addition:</strong><br><br> - Each area has a snow safety guide, operating separately from the skiing program, who makes additional observations as required to facilitate informed decisions by the guiding team.<br><br> - Observations are shared between all CMH areas on a daily conference call, and are relayed to the <a href="http://www.avalanche.ca/cac/" target=_blank">Canadian Avalanche Centre</a>, where they are compiled in a daily, industry wide information exchange (<a href="http://www.avalanche.ca/caa/industry-services/infoex" target=_blank">INFOEX</a>) <br><br> - We actively participate in avalanche research projects with the <a href="http://schulich.ucalgary.ca/Civil/Avalanche/" target="_blank">University of Calgary</a> and the <a href="http://www.geog.ubc.ca/avalanche/" target="_blank">University of British Columbia</a>.</p> <p><strong>Important Note: The potential of interference with your safety equipment, the avalanche transceiver:</strong><br /> Electronic equipment, transmitters, metals and magnets such as radios, cell phones, cameras, music players, GPS, battery packs of any type, etc., may interfere with the functionality of your avalanche transceiver. Therefore, CMH strongly recommends that you only carry electronics that are essential to your day of Heli-Skiing. We also require that any electronics that you bring skiing, be carried well separated from your avalanche transceiver. Your guide will be able to give you specific instructions on how to carry and use your transceiver in order to best avoid any interference from electronics, transmitters, metals and magnets; if sufficient separation can not be achieved and guaranteed you are advised not to carry specific pieces of equipment while out skiing. </p> <p><strong>To learn more about the CMH Snow Safety Program, please contact us at <a href="mailto:safety@cmhinc.com">safety@cmhinc.com</a></strong></p>
